Dr. A. Ray Olpin served as the seventh President of the University of Utah from 1946 until 1964. This collection contains addresses, correspondence, memoranda, minutes, news clippings, notes, programs, reports, scrapbooks, and speeches from both his administration as President of the University and from his position as President Emeritus.

George Thomas was born on December 29, 1866. He received A.B. and M.A. degrees from Harvard and a Ph.D. from Halle University in Germany. Albert Ray Olpin was born June 1, 1898 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He received an A.B. in Physics from Brigham Young University in 1923 and a Ph.D. in Physics from Columbia University in 1930.
